Happy hour is more than just a time of day at the local tavern when cocktails are sold at a cheaper price. Happy hour is a state of mind that ultimately doesn’t have to include an alcoholic beverage or time constraint. The essence of happy hour is entirely about sharing thoughts and ideas with other people. Naturally topics of discussion are grand bar schemes. Grand bar schemes often include fishing stories, business plans, world peace, places of travel, adventure and romance. Happy hour is most importantly about sharing the past, living in the moment, and not worrying about the future.
 Captain’s Tip : Try this recipe for the Poor Man’s Mint Julep. Chew a stick of spearmint gum and follow it with 2 ounces of your favorite Kentucky Bourbon. It’s good to the last drop!
CAPTAIN RYAN’S SPECIALTY DRINKS
Island Time
1½ oz. Coconut rum
1 oz. Dark rum
3 oz. Pineapple juice
Squeeze of lime
Shake and serve over ice.
Captain’s Cola
Fill glass with ice
Pour cola over ice
2½ oz. Spiced rum
Squeeze of key lime
The Skinny-Dip …this one’s for the ladies.
1 oz. Spiced rum
1 ½ oz. Orange rum
Cranberry juice
Squeeze of lime
Shake and serve over ice
Garnish with orange.
Captains Margarita
1 ½ oz. Tequila
1 ½ oz. Triple Sec
1 ¼ oz. Margarita mix
Squeeze of lime
Shake and serve over ice.
The Hemingway Daiquiri “Papa Dobles”
3 oz. White rum
1 ½ oz. Lime juice
1 ½ oz. Grapefruit juice
1 oz. Maraschino liqueur
Blend with ice and serve.
Goombay Smash
1 oz. Spiced rum
1 oz. Coconut rum
1/4 oz. Apricot brandy
2 oz. Pineapple juice
2 oz. OJ
Shake and serve over ice
Garnish with orange.
